Today In The Boroughs

Darlene Rodriguez, Anchor

Every morning, after our show here at Today in New York we have an editorial meeting where we discuss just about everything under the sun. Somewhere in that conversation we inevitable talk about the next day’s show. We’re all New Yorkers. Some of us are life-long residents, others transplants and some just work here. So we have questions, concerns and complaints about the neighborhoods where we live, work and visit, just like everyone else. We thought it would be a great idea to check in with the leaders of our five boroughs and find out what’s going on and what they’re doing about the stuff that bugs us. And so, we started Today in the Boroughs.

Monday morning we kicked it off in the Bronx and borough president, Adolfo Carrion came in and answered emails and questions on video from our viewers. Of course, it’s tough to get anyone to give us quick answers to complex problems like crime, housing and pollution, let alone a politician. But Adolfo is a regular Bronx guy and he answered every question with enthusiasm and a bright outlook.

Next Monday it’s Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz’ turn. Can’t wait. I want to know- why they don’t have better parking near Junior’s when I’m running in to get my cheesecake?

  1. I would like to know WHY they’re no Barnes & Nobles located on 86th street and 5th avenue Brooklyn. Knowing there are many school’s located around the vicinity. P.S.102,185,170,104, I.S.30, Fort Hamiliton H.S. while there are many place’s vacant.

  2. What will be the impact of the NJ Nets move to Brooklyn? Will the borough be able to accomodate the added attention and demand for commerce (parking, shopping, etc.)
